Name & Clan: Foxtail - Hillclan
Age: Adult
Gender: Female (She-cat)
Allegiance: Hillclan
Rank: Medicine Cat
Description: Foxtail has a thick, ruddy coat, a dark red almost all over. She has a little cream on the underside of her chin and belly, and along the sides of her tail. She also has a little black, a tiny tip of her tail and down the center of her tail, a little on her back, and on her paws. Her name refers to the thick bush of her tail, which resembles a fox’s. She is lean and long, but a little less graceful than she looks. She has slightly over-sized ears. Her golden-yellow eyes almost always sparkle with excitement.
Personality: (Quick reference: Optimisitc, exuberant, extrovert, perfectionist, motherly, extreme in all points, fears a darkness, fears being alone)
Optimism does no justice in describing Foxtail. Not only is the glass half-full, it will soon overflow, making enough for everyone. An odd, bubbly she-cat of seemingly endless happiness, Foxtail rarely lets anything bring her down. She tries to impart this happiness to her clanmates, thinking they could all use a bright outlook on life. She means well, but she’s fairly adept at annoying others. She never grew out of the naivety and hope of her kithood, though many hope one moon she’ll grow up. It probably won’t happen. Her optimism leaves her with a great deal of trust – and she will extend that trust to anyone, including Twolegs and other clan cats. She believes that any cat and anything has the potential for good in them. Luckily for her clan, she has learned to listen to reason most of the time and rarely seeks out Twolegs, other animals, or cats from other clans.
Despite her youthful exuberance, Foxtail has a very motherly side. Of course, like her optimism, she takes this to an extreme, and comes across as more of a mother hen than a matron. She cares deeply about every clanmate, and does her very best to make sure they’re all safe and happy. This led her early on to pursuing a role as a medicine cat, something she never regrets though at times she longs for a mate and kits of her own. She can get obsessive, though, often stepping on paws and pestering her wards. One learns to heal quickly around Foxtail. The kits enjoy her, though, as she always sets aside time in the nursery for tales of high adventure in the city. She’ll tell stories to any cat she can corner, though, and loves talking almost as much as she loves being around others.
Though it might seem surprising for such a bright she-cat, Foxtail has a perfectionist streak when it comes to what she does. She takes every case very seriously, and has a particularly hard time when the clan loses a cat. She expects the same level of perfection out of her peers among the medicine cats. While she rarely shouts or gets angry, it can be terrifying to be with her when she believes one is not trying hard enough; she becomes tight-lipped and her disappointment is almost tangible, and it is the only time she is ever quiet. She can accept failure from others, so long as they learn from it, but she cannot accept the same from herself.
Despite her love of life and clan, Foxtail is not without fears and tribulations. Her optimism keeps at a bay a fear of something she cannot name, something dark and unknown. She cannot explain it, and has never told any cat beside her mother. It has stalked her since kithood, and while she keeps her happiness as a veil over it, there are times when Foxtail will freeze up and stare into the distance, catching sight of this imaginary terror. In true Foxtail fashion, though, she will laugh it off and never let any cat know something feels amiss. She also has a paralyzing fear of being alone – literally. When completely alone, she finds herself unable to move, think, or do anything. Luckily, in a teeming city, it’s easy to be around other beings. Her need for company can prove her downfall at times. She wants so badly to trust everyone that she often comes across as gullible.
History: Foxtail has had to live up to her mother's mistake of having a kittypet's kits. She put up a strong face through it all, though, and never showed that it bothered her. She lost her brother to sickness while he was still a kit, and her mother about four seasons later in a border skirmish, shortly after Foxtail became a warrior. Except for the sad duties of sitting vigil, however, she has never showed signs of sadness or any indication that any taunts ever affected her.
Relatives: Foxtail's mother, Redpatch, was a warrior whose loyalty was questioned after she had two kittens parented by a kittypet, a strong red Somali tom named Luke who loved Redpatch but would not leave his kittypet nest. She had a brother, Lionkit, who died before becoming an apprentice.
She has never told anyone, but she knows her father and visits him from time to time.
