An absolutely massive cat with a pale coat and jet black stripes came ripping his way through the undergrowth and brambles ringing Rootclan camp. His fur - thick and glossy - repelled most of the thorns, but those that scratched him seemed to go completely unnoticed. Tiny trickles of blood ran down his powerful shoulders. "WHERE'S MY BROTHER?" Bellowed the Maine Coon at the top of his considerably loud voice. He stalked towards the Old Oak, his features sharp in rage. "Whoever kidnapped him and his mate, I'll shred them! Come out and fight you cowards!" He ranted, slamming his paw at a nearby small branch. It shattered, fragments flying everywhere, a single reddish oak leaf landing in front of the enraged giant.

Leopardsky looked up from where she'd just dropped a squirrel by the freshkill pile, her eyes flicking to the big, angry tom. The calico she-cat's eyes widened, her ears flicking forward in alarm. "Hey, hey, hey! What are you going on about?!" she asked, cautiously approaching the massive tom, her pelt bristling anxiously. Kidnapped? Why would anyone from RootClan kidnap some strangers?

The main tom stalked up to Leopardsky aggressively, his scruff bristling and his tail lashing. "My brother! His mate!" He bellowed in her face, looking ready to spring upon her. "You've got them here - I can SMELL THEM!"
Alerted by the bellowing, the handsome young silver tabby came leaping down the Old Oak at a high speed, twigs snapping in his haste. "Hey, you!" Dawnfrost yelled at the stranger, leaping to the ground. He nearly backed up when he saw the tom was nearly twice his size - but this was their territory! "What are you doing?! You ruined our wall!" He stared at the thick, torn-up undergrowth in disbelief.

Leopardsky's ears flattened, her hackles rising. "Well, obviously, they're not in camp! So if they are here, then they must be in the Medicine Den or seeing Goldstar or something!" the young warrior explained, trying to keep her voice calm. Her eyes flicked to Dawnfrost, and she sighed slightly, relieved by her Clanmate's appearance.

"What is all this yowling about?" A loud, agitated voice bellowed over the younger cats, determined to be heard over the din of the arguments. Jumblescar limped with as much dignity as she could afford - which was plenty - to the commotion, staring down the intruder through slitted eyes. The elder rarely stayed in or near the elders' den, unless some apprentices were cleaning it out and wanted to hear some tales while they did. She did not seem the least bit intimidated by the huge tom. She had never learned fear.
"Challenging all us 'cowards' to a fight is not going to do you any good," Jumblescar insisted, kinked tail, once her namesake, lashing in agitation. "Never burst into battle without assessment, especially when it would just save you trouble to ask something proper. No cat here went about kidnapping anyone." She snorted. "We did, apparently, save some cats, though." Elders heard all the good rumors first.

The huge tom glared wildly from Leopardsky to Dawnfrost to Jumblescar. "Medicine den? Gold Stars? Assessing? You cats are talking rubbish!" He bellowed, spittle flying in his fury. Dawnfrost narrowed his eyes and took a step back. "I'll go and get our deputy Rootp - I mean, Opaleye." He told the tom, still not trusting him to behave And how strange it was, adjusting to a new cat after Rootpelt's long, long moons as deputy...

Leopardsky's tail lashed, ears flattening as she got hit by the tom's spittle. Someone rubbed his fur the wrong way. "Take a deep breath and calm down!" the calico warrior hissed, shifting her weight slightly.

Jumblescar was simply pleased that the large tom seemed quite easily contained for the moment by speaking to him. If nothing else, he hadn't ripped anyone's fur off just yet, just stood there yowling at them. She kept her eyes narrowed.
"And if you'd only ask the right questions and listen, it would be less nonsense, kit."

"Kit?!" Repeated the big tom incredulously. "KIT? I'm no kit, you crazy old idiot!" he snarled, his thick scruff bristling wildly.
"Then I suggest you stop acting like one." Opaleye's voice was calm and icy. Tiger whirled around to face her - but it was the large red and white tom standing at her side that finally brought his hackles down. "Lion! What are you doing here? And where's Sunny?"
Lion stepped forward, sitting calmly in front of the other tom. '"Peace brother. She was injured and these cats brought her here to help. Opaleye - this is my brother, Tiger."
Opaleye felt several less than diplomatic response rise to her jaw, but settled for a cool."Charmed."

Leopardsky sighed with relief as the big tom calmed down, sitting down and swiping a paw over her ear. "Thank StarClan." she muttered, grumbling softly.

"Why don't you come and see Sunny?" Suggested Opaleye tactfully, and Lion released a relieved sigh when Tiger relaxed and let his fur lie flat. "Well, get on with it then." He glared suspiciously at the Rootclan cats, as if he was waiting for one of them to spring on him.
Lion led him into the oak, and Opaleye swiftly nodded her thanks to the others. "Better go too." She murmured, and climbed gracefully after the two big male Maines

Jumblescar's battered ears twitched in amusement. She gave her kinked tail a flick as Lion stalked off, as if to bid him adieu, and then stretched. Since she didn't get outside the camp except to sun herself (though she still wished she could hunt and fight), the diversion had been much more entertaining than frightening to her.

Dawnfrost huffed out a sigh of relief. "Thank Starclan." He muttered, flopping down by Jumblescar and watching the others leave. "What a bruiser! I don't think I've ever seen cats the size of those two. Bigger than Goldstar!"
