Siennadust padded along the border, feeling a sense of calm concentration, the way she always did when she was doing something that required focus. She was naturally a scatterbrain, in that she was always thinking of something or another; patrolling was easy because she could rely on her physical senses of smell, hearing, and touch to check the border, while she mulled over other problems in her head. Being deputy was new to her, but she'd decided she liked the job.
She felt a rumble in the ground and quickly darted aside, crouching low in the ground until the big monster passed. Then she straightened and cursed under her breath. "Well, that stench isn't going to help," she muttered, smelling nothing but exhaust now. She raised her head and opened her mouth, but it didn't help. "Can you guys smell anything?" she asked the rest of the patrol. "I can't."
((OOC – Random patrol ^^ Because she wasn't really doing anything... Feel free to join!))

Russettail strode up to Siennadust’s side once the monster had passed. She paused, the very tip of her tail twitching. Her lips parted as she took in a deep breath, allowing the air to pass over scent glands. Shortly after a slight sneeze escaped the she-cat.
“No,” she told her Deputy, running her tongue over the side of her mouth in an attempt to remove the taste of exhaust. “That Monster must have been ill. It’s stink is worse then most. Over powering.”

Finalnight shook his head, eyes narrowed with disgust. "What do you think?" He snapped, with a sharp flick of his tail. "My nose hurts just thinking about it. Actually, my nose is hurting now."
He backed away a few steps, searching for fresh air. Well, technically, fresherTwolegs destroyed everything they came in touch with. His tail lashed at the thought.

((OOC – Eek sorry about the late reply!))
Siennadust snorted in disgust at Russettail's comment about the monster. "Agreed," she murmured, padding forward again. "My nose is hurting, too. The cold air doesn't help!" she added.
This was nice – this felt normal, like what she'd done as a warrior. It was familiar, and she felt in control and confident. Her spirits lifted and her pace quickened slightly. She lowered her nose to the ground and sniffed. "Eurgh... HillClan are almost as smelly as that monster," she muttered. "I'm glad they don't seem to have crossed the border."
She re-marked the border, scraping her claws across a lone tree for added scent, and then padded onward in silence, the familiar and reassuring scents of Russettail and Finalnight making her feel at ease.

((Heh. No worries. My replies are stretched too. Holiday working is icky. :-P))
Russettail glanced back at Finalnight catiously before giving a nod and following after Siennadust. She checked further down the boarder line while her Deputy busied herself with refreshing the scent marking. “I must agree with you there,” she called over as she paused. "Perhaps because of all the rubbish they are so found of?"

((Aw. I'm glad I don't work yet Mehheh the only work I do is... wrap presents and carry Christmas shopping around. xD Hm. Any ideas for drama? Bwahah)) Siennadust had to let out a snort, her whiskers twitching. She finished renewing the border's scent-marks and walked onward. "Probably," she agreed with a flick of her tail. "The other Clans don't smell much better, either." But she wondered how she smelled. She was not, after all, completely CrowClan. She fervently hoped she didn't stink like HillClan... Up ahead, there was a small patch of boggy land. Siennadust's tail drooped a little. "Ick," she murmured, wrinkling her nose. "I always hate crossing that bit." As she stepped onto the wet ground, she flicked her paws in disgust. She carefully sniffed around for any scents of trespassers, though she doubted any sane cat would voluntarily come nosing around here.
