Mercurystone glared at Nightdancer. "Then why doesn't it feel good? I hate the whole lot of this stinking clan." he yowled, his voice tight and smoldering with all the rage he'd suppressed over the years. The smoky tom whirled around and gouged deep wounds into the side of the tree, taking intense satisfaction from the ripping, splintering noise it made and the tug of his claws through the wood. Splinters sprayed his fur, sticking to the dryed apple juice as he cut into it again. He'd never showed THIS amount of rage, or any emotion, to anycat in his life. Part of him was ashamed of it, part of him wanted to claw this tree for the rest of his life. He had heard the nice words she had said, but it didn't really register with him, like it had just bounced off his brain while all the bad stuff had been absorbed. It was what he usually did. Self sabotage. Part of him wanted him to fail, the other part unable to stop it.

Nightdancer just watched for several moments before she spoke, "When did the world have to bend to your will?" She studied the damage he had done, not really worried. "If you feel that you have to take out your rage on something, how about you start with me?" She wasn't suicidal, she was actually trying to figure out a way to get Mercurystone to see some sense. And she was strong enough to hold her own against him, she was sure. And also, if someone asked about what had happened, the battle practice excuse would be pretty believable.

Mercurystone hissed, not thinking straight, and leapt for Nightdancer. "At your request!" he snarled, his claws still unsheathed and aimed for her throat.

Nightdancer's quick reactions helped. She darted sideways the moment he moved and in two quick leaps she was behind Mercurystone. She didn't hesitate to pounce, claws also unsheathed. This was one form of anger management she supposed, just let him focus his energy on something challenging for a while until he calmed down and saw some sense. But would that actually work? That was the question.

Mercurystone skidded on the cold ground, feeling his claws fray slightly. Enraged, he screeched and whirled around to face Nightdancer. With a mad hiss, he took her attack with claws straight out to try and block her while dealing out some damage at the same time.

His attack was sudden, and yet Nightdancer had anticipated it as an option he may take. His claws drew blood, mainly on one of her forelegs and she landed on her feet. Once again she took of, darting this way and that, all the time scratching at whatever openings she could find.

A claw grazed his nack and he pulled back, then lunged forward at her throat again. At the last moment, he dodged to the side in an attempt to cut into her shoulder, putting all his weight into the attack.

Nightdancer darted sideways when he attacked and as he dodged to the side, lept away from her previous position so that his attack missed. Whirling around, she aimed for a blow to his shoulder, hoping to draw blood and ready to dodge.

Mercurystone slithered to the ground as she aimed for his shoulder, sneaking like a snake to get under her so he could butt her in the gut. If he could, it would wind her and maybe buy him some time to deal out some real damage.

Her eyes widened when she saw Mercurystone's movement and then hissed. The fastest course of action out of this situation involved actualy bodily harm to herself. Oh well. Nightdancer propelled herself forward with enough power to sufficiently put her out of Mercurystone's range, however, she had thrown herself against the ground and she was quite sure that in the morning, she would be pretty sore. Nightdancer picked herself up fast enough and was once again ready for whatever attack Mercurystone had in store next.

Mercurystone hissed, seeing her dodge his attack, and pushed up off the ground in a tremendous leap. Of course, such a powerfull leap had cost him a lot in energy, and his movements were slower as tryed to claw at her as he landed.

Nightdancer dodged by moving aside from his attack at the last moment and then striking quickly, aiming for her neck. She wasn't intending to do any serious damage though.

He was bowled over by an attack on his neck. He rolled over the apple, squishing more of the juice into his pelt, and with an angry snarl he kicked out with his hind legs, hoping to hit her.

Nightdancer was hit by one of his legs but thankfully it didn't do much damage, she attacked again, without hesitation, this time aiming to claw him, but she wasn't going for any lasting damage. Maybe something painful but you could live with.

Mercurystone's sticky fur bristled and he felt claws dig into him. With a screech of pain he rolled over on the ground and rammed his head up at her, rearing and swiping with his claws at the same time.

Nightdancer dodged, but barely and nearly fell, unbalanced, in a second she had bolted a few tail lengths away. "What do I have to do put some sense into you?" She hissed and then dashed towards him, side to side. Mercurystone would have some difficulty keeping up.

Mercurystone let out a wild screech when he missed. Exhausted, he slumped to the ground as Nightdancer began running towards him. He didn't care anymore. He was just ashamed of himself, letting his emotions get the better of him again. He ran his claws over his other paw in frustration, realized what he was doing, and stopped. He forced his face into a blank stare and forced his tense muscles to relax.

Nightdancer stopped right before Mercurystone and then sat in front of him. There were many things that she could say, several of which that weren't very good. After a, she spoke, "Mercurystone, tell me what I should say." She was actually concerned about his well-being and was quite willing to help in whatever way she could if he wanted help.

His eyes narrowed. "Tell you what to say? How about you say what you want? What, do you need me to hold your paw to cross the thunderpaths too?" he asked, sneering. He didn't care what she had to say to him. Mercurystone snorted and started grooming his stuck up and sticky fur, which was drying at awfully awkward angles, and screwing up his face at the taste of the rotten, sickly sweet apple.

Nightdancer was sorely tempted to lash out and give him a good injury on his face but she held back, "Obviously, you really, really hate something about your life and I don't think it's good for you to dwell on that negativity." Her voice was blunt, and it was clear that she probably had some kind of comeback for whatever he was going to say next. Even so, it was also blindingly obvious that she was concerned about his well-being.
