"My life is fine." meowed Mercurystone in a deadpan voice, although from the twitch of his face it was obvious that he was lying. No way was hegoing to just break out in a sob and tell her everything that had gotten wrong in his life... she'd probably just tell him to get over it... even now, he thought, it seemed like she was thinking of something blisteringly witty to say to him.

Nightdancer shook her head, "Your life is clearly not fine and if you keep telling yourself and others that it is, you will remain in this depressing state of mind." Perhaps she was insulting him, but she was also stating the obvious at the same time. Sure, she wasn't the best at convincing those with problems to get up and try figuring out things about themselves, but she was trying, at least.

Mercurystone rolled his eyes. "I'm not depressed. It's just-" drat, he'd almost opened up. Nope, he wasn't going to do that... he hated being emotionally vulnerable. Well, actually, she might understand... but there was the chance that she wouldn't... and besides, showing emotions was a sign of weakness, and he'd already been weak enough for one day.

Nightdancer almost rolled her eyes, "I didn't mean depressing that that way." She considered the option of prodding him, but clearly, it didn't seem to work. It had seemed that she had nearly made a breakthrough as well. "I guess you're just the type who would rather rot in their own minds rather than show any sign of weakness." She knew those types, on the outside, hard, strong but still, they were weak inside, whether they were willing to admit it or not.

Mercurystone tipped his head. "I'm not rotting." he meowed, mistaking what she said to be literal. He felt fine, really... other than the awful, frustrated feeling one gets from bottling up their emotions. He waited, his yellow eyes staring at her. It was impossible to know what he was thinking from the expression on his face.

Nightdancer studied Mercurystone's expression, and saw nothing. She wasn't bothered by it, she had actually expected it. And she wondered if he took most things literally. "Rotting is a figurative expression, Mercurystone." What does it take for him to understand?! "I meant a horrible feeling you always have. And sooner or later it'll probably do in your mind."

"Oh." he meowed, sitting down. "Then I am rotting. Figurativly, of course." Mercurystone was feeling very calm now, having let out all of his anger. Licking one of his claws then sheathing them, he lay down on his side.

Nightdancer wondered why he would suddenly admit it but she shrugged that issue off. "Are you going to do something about it?" Her tone of voice was something between lazy and gentle - as though she cared but it didn't bother her too much.

"What AM I going to do about it?" he asked. He'd do nothing. "It's weak to show emotion, and your doing it right now, you know." he meowed. "However weakly you feel. Your weak, and I'm strong, and that's why I have no problem with rotting. Figurativly. It's strength that matters." he finished, beginning to claw at a sticky clump of fur on his fore-arm.

Nightdancer started laughing. It was cold - freezing. "Wow. Strength means that much to you? Okay. Bye. Have fun rotting." Here, she turned and started to leave. Mercurystone could go rot for all she cared. It was actually funny - his stubborn decision. He'd rather rot than live? Odd.

"I will." Mercurystone snarled, curtly, sarcasically. He was still picking at the sticky fur, then he turned his back on her while she walked away.

Nightdancer hadn't even heard Mercurystone, she just kept walking, found a nice sturdy looking tree and climbed it, resting on a branch. She lay down on it, eyes half-closed as she relaxed. It felt good, just sitting there, so long as she didn't think too much.

Mercurystone hissed and walked away after Nightdancer climbed the tree. He settled down a few feet away to try and de-stickify his fur. He glared down at the apple.'YOU started this!' he snarled silently to it.

Nightdancer couldn't see Mercurystone very well from her position, but he was again at the beginning - snarling at the apple. It was actually fairly amusing - that is, if she ignored his state of mind.
